Què fem?
En l’actualitat, la federació està formada per quatre associacions:
- ADEMGI (Associació d’Ensenyants de les Comarques Gironines)
- APMCM (Associació de professors de matemàtiques de les Comarques Meridionals)
- APaMMs (Associació de professors i mestres de matemàtiques)
- ABEAM (Associació de Barcelona per a l’estudi i aprenentatge de les matemàtiques)
Cada associació actua de forma autònoma organitzant activitats, en el seu àmbit territorial d’influència, adreçades al professorat (Jornades didàctiques, Conferències, Taules rodones,…) i a l’alumnat (Tallers, Xerrades, Concursos de fotografia,…).
La Federació promou i organitza dues activitats, adreçades a l’alumnat, per tot el territori català: El concurs de resolució de problemes Fem Matemàtiques (adreçat a l’alumnat de 6è de primària a 2n de l’ESO) i els Tallers d’Anem x + Matemàtiques (adreçats a l’alumnat de 4t d’ESO).
Durant molts anys la Federació ha editat la revista Biaix (29 números), revista de didàctica i divulgació de les matemàtiques. Des del setembre del 2011 s’edita de forma conjunta amb la Societat Catalana de Matemàtiques (SCM), per tal d’unir esforç i voluntat per intervenir en el mapa formatiu global català de la matemàtica, amb el nom de NouBiaix.
La FEEMCAT convoca els premis Maria Antònia Canals (MAC), adreçat a treballs i recerques en innovació didàctica produïts per professorat des d’infantil a la universitat. Des del curs 2012-13 les societats XEIX (Societat Balear de Matemàtiques) i Al-Khwarizmi (Societat d’Educació Matemàtica de la Comunitat Valenciana) s’han incorporat també a la convocatòria.
La col·laboració entre la FEEMCAT i la SCM es materialitza en l’organització d’una Jornada didàctica anual conjunta adreçada a tot el professorat, des d’infantil fins a la universitat, així com d’algunes activitats adreçades a l’alumnat: programa ESTALMAT, Problemes a l’Esprint i la Marató de problemes. També s’anima a l’alumnat a participar en el concurs de resolució de problemes Cangur que organitza la SCM. Des de fa uns anys, l’organització de la Jornada anual s’ha ampliat amb la col·laboració de XEIX (Societat Balear de Matemàtiques) i Al-Khwarizmi (Societat d’Educació Matemàtica del País Valencià).
